Description

Following a very successful event on the new Diploma in Dance Teaching and Learning (Children and Young People) held at Laban on 31st January, we have published the presentations and notes taken throughout the day.

The Diploma for Dance Teaching and Learning (Children and Young People) (DDTAL) is a new benchmark qualification designed by the dance industry for the dance industry.

Following a successful pilot project, Youth Dance England invited artists, employers and training providers to share their experiences of the qualification first hand. The event was also an opportunity to share with those artists, employers and prospective training providers who were interested in hearing more about the qualification. Following a Welcome talk by Linda Jasper, Director of Youth Dance England, Liz Dale, Head of Education and Training at the Council for Dance Education and Training then provided an introduction to the Dance Training and Accreditation Partnership (DTAP).

Sue Davies, Learning and Development Consultant, then led a session entitled ‘DDTAL a powerful tool for change’ where she shared her thoughts and reflections on CPD and sustaining a life-long career in dance teaching Maggie Morris, Acting and Dance Consultant at Trinity College London introduced the Diploma in Dance Teaching and Learning (Children and Young People), and Sara Reed, Qualification and Research Project Evaluator for DDTAL outlined its successes and challenges to date and its development issues.

Additional

Four downloadable documents are now available for your reference from the YDE website, covering the morning's introductory presentations as well as the afternoon's break-out sessions cantered around the DDTAL Training Provider experience, the DDTAL Candidate experience, and the point of view of the Employer.
